Background: Sotalol is a class III antiarrhythmic drug commonly used in various arrhythmia treatments. However, due to its potent potassium channel inhibition, it can prolong the QT interval and lead malignant arrhythmias. Empagliflozin an inhibitor of sodium‑glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) has positive effect on cardiovascular outcomes. Since empagliflozin activation channels unknown, there no recommendation regarding coadministration these drugs. Aims: The study aimed evaluate possible protective effects sotalol‑induced prolongation. Methods: We randomized 24 rats into 4 groups. control group received only physiological saline, EMPA group, empagliflozin; SOT sotalol; EMPA+SOT sotalol.
